Ely Photographic Club would like to wish all of its members and friends a Happy New Year, and hope that you get some great photo opportunities over the coming months!
EPC hosted a 4 way battle on Wednesday 6 December, with March, St. Neots and St. Ives visiting us to compete in a competition judged by Daphne Hanson DPAGB, APAGB. Ely won the competition overall, in an enjoyable and closely fought battle.
More results from the evening are available here
The season’s second pdi competition was held on Wednesday 8 November, and there was a great turnout of 72 entries, quite a lot to be judged, which was done excellently by Nick Akers. Results are now available on the 2017/18 Seasons Scores page, and the winning images can be seen on the Images and Competitions page under the appropriate link.
On Wednesday 15 November we will be running an evening where members can get any help they need with their camera, or with processing or mounting their images. If you would like us to cover any particular subjects, please let us know in advance so that we can make the evening as helpful and informative as possible. You may for example want to learn more about Lightroom or Photoshop, have some of the settings on your camera explained, or you may want to know how to mount your prints or learn a technique like long exposures. The choice is yours, and you will be able to join small groups on the night with some of our more experienced photographers who will cover the subjects you need help with. There will also be the chance to have a chat to other members, and if the evening is successful, we will plan more of these evenings next season.
The season’s second pdi competition will be held on Wednesday 8 November, and as we have no meetings on either 25 October or 1 November, any pdi entries should be sent by email to James by Wednesday 1 November at the latest. In view of the large number of entries for the last competition, please note that of your maximum of 3 entries, you should indicate when emailing which of them is your 3rd choice, in case the competition has to be reduced to a maximum of two entries each.
Club Secretary Nick Bowman is planning to visit Anglesey Abbey on Monday 6 November and is inviting any club members who would like to join him to let him know. This will be a great opportunity to get some great autumn shots, and help with your camera equipment if needed. A tripod would be useful, and Nick will aim to get there for 10am when the gardens will be open. Any members interested in joining Nick should please contact him directly so that transport arrangements can be sorted out. Partners are welcome to attend if they wish.
The first print competition of the season was held on Wednesday 18 October, and about 60 prints were judged by Adrian Stone. Please see the competition winners page under the Images section for the results and images.
