“Knowing your camera, knowing how to photograph”

This is an extra learning session ahead of start of the main EPC programme for the season, and will be presented by Nasar Hussain from South Birmingham Photographic Society, who will present Part 1 of his “Click to Print” talk, covering:

• How to hold your camera
• The main camera controls
• Function of the shutter button
• Camera accessories
• How to focus
• Getting exposure right (exposure triangle)
• Composition basics – rule of thirds
• Seeing colour
• Creating a simple collage

The talk comprises of slides, images, videos, and demonstrations. Nasar also provides a copy of resources so that members can access the videos and websites after the talk.

Members will be asked to pick a colour and then shoot 6 close-up images of objects that are predominantly that colour. The images will then be used to produce a simple collage.

The remainder of the talk builds on this and covers flash, basic image editing, black & white, additional compositional techniques, and preparing images for printing.

The session will be aimed at potential new members or anyone who would like a refresher on how to use their cameras ahead of the start of our main seasons meetings. The session will be run via the Zoom app online.  Please let Sharon know if you would like to participate in this event.
