DESCRIPTION:To mark the Christmas season\, we thought it would be a nice idea to have a social get-together and a chat this evening. We will therefore be meeting up in a local hostelry this evening for a festive drink. This will be a great chance for all of our members to socialise\, and perhaps to meet people that they haven’t spoken to before. For new members this is an opportunity to get to know the club better\, too. \nThe venue will be the bar of the Lamb Hotel in the centre of Ely\, from around 7pm onwards – please pop in\, you will be very welcome\, and you can bring your partners too if you wish. It will be great to see everyone\, as there never seems to be enough time during the tea/coffee breaks at the College! \nMost of you will be familiar with the Lamb\, but for those of you who aren’t\, we would suggest parking at the Council Offices in Nutholt Lane\, CB7 4EE\, (near the Police station) where parking is free out of office hours. If you drive round to the rear car park behind the Council offices\, you can then walk towards Market Street\, and you will see the Lamb Hotel ahead as you walk towards the Cathedral.. \nMerry Christmas to all of you\, and we hope to see as many of you there as possible.

DESCRIPTION:In an addition to the programme\, this evening we now have a zoom presentation from world class photographer Roger Hance FRPS AFIAP DPAGB BPE5*.  The is called “Nature Photography in the UK – Tips and tricks”.  Rather than a presentation just showing wonderful images\, this is about how to take them for yourself.  With good field craft\, the right settings and good locations\, you don’t always need massive expensive lenses.  You can hide from wildlife and it will come to you – watch and find out how. \nIf you look at Rogers website\, you will find more details of this presentation and see a lot more of Rogers work. \nOf additional interest\, Roger has an excellent range of YouTube video’s on his channel  \nNot only\, but also\, Roger is an OM SYSTEM Ambassador and a Permajet Lecturer and he can be found on Instagram \nWe are very lucky to book Roger at short notice as he is very much in demand considering his qualifications and experience\, so I recommend this presentation to you all. DESCRIPTION:The second APG meeting of the season.  Nick Bowman will lead this discussion session to explore how EPC members might improve the quality of their images and prints. This could include: \n\nPlanning your shots to give yourself every opportunity to obtain images that have the potential to be good in-camera / drone / phone captures.\nHow to select which of your images have the most potential?\nChoosing the most appropriate crop?\nDeciding what size various elements in the frame should be?\nUsing the tools and skills you have to edit the image to the best of your ability.\nSeeking the views of others about how you might improve your work.\nDevelop your editing and printing skills regardless of whether you outsource or do your own printing.\nFrom the above determine your strengths and weaknesses and pick out a couple of areas for improvement.\n\nAnother aspect we can look at is how we can develop our skills in a different genre. For example\, Nick wants to develop/improve his water-sports images and achieve a similar standard to that of his nature images. What does he need to do achieve this aim? Nick will be the “Guinea Pig” to get the discussion going. \nJohn has created a folder in Photo-Entry entitled “APG 30 November Images”. We would ask you to submit up to 5 images where you would like some suggestions from other members about how you might improve any aspects of your work. \nNick will manage proceedings to ensure everyone gets the opportunity to share one or more of their images for discussion. In truth many of the areas we have for improvement will be replicated in many of our images\, so just sharing one image for discussion may be enough to identify a couple of key areas for development. \nWe hope that this format will supplement the feedback we get from Judges. No doubt there will be some “common themes” arising and some potential “quick wins” for several of our members. So\, the outcome of this session may well dictate what 2024 APG sessions should focus on. \nWe look forward to your participation.

DESCRIPTION:Cambridge University’s Fitzwilliam Museum Society are inviting EPC members to a presentation featuring prolific music photographer Andy Earl\, who has produced photographic artwork for album covers by Johnny Cash\, Pink Floyd\, and the Cranberries. Earl has represented Britain at the Venice Biennale cultural exhibition\, and is a top photographer in the music industry.
