DESCRIPTION:This evening we will be running a practical demonstration on how to set up a portrait shoot\, including how to arrange suitable lighting. SUMMARY:Presentation - "Landscape and seascape photography in the UK"
DESCRIPTION:Roger Hance will be back at the club this evening presenting his talk on landscapes and seascapes around the country. Rogers talks are always excellent\, so this is an evening to look forward to! \nLandscape and Seascapes Photography is one of the most rewarding areas of photography\, as well being one of the most challenging. In the first half of this presentation Roger will cover composition\, lighting\, exposure\, equipment\, preparation and research\, as well as Infra Red Photography. Roger will explain the focal length of the lenses used for landscape photography\, and how\, depending on lighting and composition\, he decides which lens to use.  Roger will talk about and show examples of the use of ND filters – when they work\, as well as situations where they will not work.\nIn the second half of the talk Roger will show examples of his work taken at eight of his favourite areas in the UK. Cornwall\, The Lake District\, The Scottish Highlands\, The Peak District\, The Northumberland Coast\, Snowdonia\, Devon\, and Dorset.

SUMMARY:EPC 50th Anniversary Print Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Ely Photographic Club are proud to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the formation of the club in 1974 by holding an exhibition of prints produced by our club members at the prestigious Babylon Gallery at Ely riverside. We held our first exhibition at the Gallery in 2022\, and this was very successful and well-received by the public\, with a high standard of prints both framed and mounted. \nThis year the exhibition will run throughout almost the whole of September 2024 from 12noon to 4pm every weekday (except Mondays when the Gallery is not open) and from 10am to 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The exhibition will opening to the public on Wednesday 4th\, (when there will be a Private Viewing launch evening as well from 6pm – 8pm which is open to the public)\, and it will then run until the closing date on Sunday 29th. A wide range of images of many different genres will be on display\, which will include wildlife\, architecture\, portraits\, landscapes and abstract works. Club members will also normally be in attendance to discuss the exhibition and their work\, and to answer any questions that you may have.  read more

DESCRIPTION:So many people say that they wish they had ideas\, stories\, to illustrate\, and were creative…this presentation guides you to examine your own experiences and preferences to draw on when creating unique images. The second half demonstrates a number of editing techniques such as textures\, overlays\, colour grading and composites\, opening that door to creative expression and image creation. DESCRIPTION:The East Anglian Federation are holding their annual exhibition at Wingfield Barns as usual this year from 4-19 May (except Monday 13th and every Tuesday). The exhibition will be formally opened at 2pm on 4th by Nick Akers\, and then is open from 11am to 4pm daily. A number of our EPC members have had work selected for the exhibition\, and entry is free to all. The event will close at 1pm on the final day\, (19th). SUMMARY:Presentation - "Scapes 2 - Urban and Creative"
DESCRIPTION:Tony North will be covering his cityscapes and other urban images\, and also his creative work mainly covering multiple exposures.Tony will share some tips and techniques\, as well as some anecdotes about the locations and experiences of shooting the scenes. Tony will also mention some of his inspirations\, including Sandra Bartocha and Pep Ventosa\, and will discuss some important themes in these genres of photography\, such as when to convert to mono and when to go with colour. We will also look at when images benefit from the presence of people.\nThe talk will be structured –\n1. Introduction and gear used\n2. Urban landscapes from locations including Manchester\, London\, Italy\, and India. Images will include cityscapes\, night shots and light trails\, and street photography.\n3. Creative images – multiple exposures\, and ICM shots of the urban environment\, some including people\n4. Live demo of how one of Tony’s urban images is created.  read more
