Please note that the venue for our annual Christmas do, which we had planned to hold at the West End pub on December 12th,, has now been changed to the Cutter Inn on the same date.
There is now a ‘For Sale’ page on the website. If any members have any photographic gear to sell please let Phil have the details so that they can be posted on the page.
On Wednesday 28 November we have renowned judge Daphne Hanson at the club. Daphne will be giving feedback on the images submitted in the first two pdi competitions of the season, and how these might have been improved to achieve a higher score. Members will also be encouraged to make constructive comments in an informal and non-competitive environment that will help both new and more experienced photographers, so everyone is encouraged to support the evening.
In a close fought battle judged by Naomi Saul and hosted by Ely on 21 November 2018, Melbourn and District photographic club were victorious, scoring a total of 322 points. Ely Photographic Club were second with 316 points, narrowly beating Bottisham and Burwell club who scored 315 points.
Congratulations to Melbourn on their victory. For a full list of images and their individual scores, please Click Here.
We have two external competitions coming up in the near future – on Wednesday 21 November 2018 we are hosting a 3-way Print competition with Bottisham & Burwell and Melbourn clubs, and then we are in a competition at March on 6 December competing against March, St Ives and St Neots.
We participated in the Pat Goode Memorial competition at Wisbech on 12 November 2018 with 11 other clubs. Here are the results:
PICO = 144
Ely = 141
Wisbech = 141
City Camera Club = 140
Deepings = 140
March = 139
North Norfolk = 139
Peterborough = 138
Brancaster = 132
Hunstanton 132
King’s Lynn 131

From memory, this is only the 2nd time we have participated in this competition. Given we have only been taking external competitions more seriously since Richard took on the role of External Competitions Secretary with Kevin assisting with selections, we are naturally delighted to have come joint 2nd out of 12 clubs.
