Ely Photographic Club are delighted to announce that we have been speaking to local print firm “The Colour Den” and have reached agreement with them on our very first sponsorship arrangement!
More details on this sponsorship deal will shortly be circulated to members, together with a pricelist.
The Colour Den are a local Fine Art printing company. They are located at 10 Kingdon Avenue, Prickwillow, Ely. The business was set up in 2020 by owners Amanda and Craig Dennis. Between them they have vast experience in the world of printing, and their services include producing high quality Fine Art Giclée prints. They use a range of Canson Infinity papers and are proud to have recently become a Canson Infinity Certified Lab. They do their utmost to offer a personal service to their customers, and EPC have negotiated some special deals with them to benefit our club members, including discounts on printing work for exhibitions on archival quality papers and special prices for less expensive competition prints. They can offer a full service by mounting and framing your work if required. Being a local company, they are able to get your photographic prints produced at very short notice and can offer help and advice about getting the most colour accurate high-quality prints that you will be proud of.
Yesterday evening, 14 November 2022, Ely Photographic Club competed in the Pat Goode memorial trophy competition which was held at Wisbech Football Club. Several EPC members braved the foggy conditions to travel to the competition to support it and were rewarded with an excellent result for the club. Out of a total of eleven competing clubs, we came joint second with Deepings Camera Club, and were beaten only by the elite PICO group. We have competed in this competition in the past but have never had such a good result as this, which demonstrates how far the club has come on recently – we have some excellent photographers who are producing great work, well done!
On Wednesday 9 November 2022 we held our second print competition of the year, judged by Jonathan Vaines.

As part of our recent print exhibition at the Babylon Gallery, we ran a wildlife photo competition for under 16’s. There were 3 age groups, for 5 to 8 year olds, 9 to 12 year olds, and 13 to 16 year olds, and the standard of entries was extremely good.
The winner of the 5-8 years category was Rean Chriswin Rex Suresh. The 9-12 years group was won by Alexander Walker, and the 13-16 year group was won by Jasper Grooms. Their winning images are shown below:
The winners all received a 20″ x 16″ mounted print of their winning image, and an Award Certificate presented by Phil Lenney, EPC Secretary.
Our 2022 Print exhibition ended on Sunday 9 October 2022, and was very well received, with over 1100 people visiting us during the two weeks.
Thanks to everyone who helped to make the event such a success by covering the 4-hour shifts each afternoon or by entering their work.
Visitors were all impressed by the very high standard of work, and we sold a number of framed and mounted prints, along with cards and calendars.
this was an excellent way to raise the profile of our club, and to reach out to potential new members.
Our 2022 Print Exhibition is now running at the Babylon Gallery at Waterside in Ely, where around 150 prints, both mounted and framed, are available to view and purchase.
Entry to the gallery is free, and the exhibition is open every day except Mondays from 12 noon to 4pm. The last day of the exhibition will be Sunday 9 October, so if you haven’t been to see us yet, please do – there are club members in attendance to answer any questions you may have about the prints or about the club.
