On Wednesday 14 December 2022 we held our 3rd annual pdi competition against Kings Lynn and District Camera Club. The event was judged by Nick Akers, and each club entered 25 images, mainly by different authors, to give as many members as possible a chance to have their work critiqued.
In a closely-fought competition, both clubs ended up with a final score of 424 points…! Everyone agreed that a draw was a very fair result all round…
Well done to everyone who entered the competition, it was a very enjoyable evening with some excellent images, and we look forward to running this event again next year.
On Wednesday 7 December we held our print panel competition and had a very strong entry of 14 panels submitted by club members, that were judged by Penny Reeves. For results and images, please click the link below:
On the 7 December 2022, following completion of the judging for our print panel competition, we will be having a social pre-Christmas end to the evening, with some mince pies and sausage rolls too – we hope to see as many of you as possible there on the night!
On Wednesday 23 November we held our first pdi competition of the season in person at the College and Daphne Hanson judged 74 images.

Ely Photographic Club are delighted to announce that we have been speaking to local print firm “The Colour Den” and have reached agreement with them on our very first sponsorship arrangement!
More details on this sponsorship deal will shortly be circulated to members, together with a pricelist.
The Colour Den are a local Fine Art printing company. They are located at 10 Kingdon Avenue, Prickwillow, Ely. The business was set up in 2020 by owners Amanda and Craig Dennis. Between them they have vast experience in the world of printing, and their services include producing high quality Fine Art Giclée prints. They use a range of Canson Infinity papers and are proud to have recently become a Canson Infinity Certified Lab. They do their utmost to offer a personal service to their customers, and EPC have negotiated some special deals with them to benefit our club members, including discounts on printing work for exhibitions on archival quality papers and special prices for less expensive competition prints. They can offer a full service by mounting and framing your work if required. Being a local company, they are able to get your photographic prints produced at very short notice and can offer help and advice about getting the most colour accurate high-quality prints that you will be proud of.
Yesterday evening, 14 November 2022, Ely Photographic Club competed in the Pat Goode memorial trophy competition which was held at Wisbech Football Club. Several EPC members braved the foggy conditions to travel to the competition to support it and were rewarded with an excellent result for the club. Out of a total of eleven competing clubs, we came joint second with Deepings Camera Club, and were beaten only by the elite PICO group. We have competed in this competition in the past but have never had such a good result as this, which demonstrates how far the club has come on recently – we have some excellent photographers who are producing great work, well done!
On Wednesday 9 November 2022 we held our second print competition of the year, judged by Jonathan Vaines.

On 19 October we held the first face to face print competition since before the pandemic, and a number of prints scored a maximum of 20 points. This was the first of our three print competitions of the season. Full details of the evenings results and a gallery of the highest scoring images can be found here
As part of our recent print exhibition at the Babylon Gallery, we ran a wildlife photo competition for under 16’s. There were 3 age groups, for 5 to 8 year olds, 9 to 12 year olds, and 13 to 16 year olds, and the standard of entries was extremely good.
The winner of the 5-8 years category was Rean Chriswin Rex Suresh. The 9-12 years group was won by Alexander Walker, and the 13-16 year group was won by Jasper Grooms. Their winning images are shown below:
The winners all received a 20″ x 16″ mounted print of their winning image, and an Award Certificate presented by Phil Lenney, EPC Secretary.
